[So Undyne's noticed that she hasn't seen a certain member of Team Pride around that much this week! She's not worried of course, but Break is clearly someone who despite being incredibly intelligent also Needs To Be Babysat. Plus his room is right next to hers, so it's no big deal to knock on his door after she's done dropping some stuff off in hers.

And by knock, she of course means kick the door in.]

As for the question, Gilbert doesn't know all of the spoilers because Break wanted to save the town from him going berserk, basically. Instead, Undyne gets the simplified version! Kinda. A little bit hesitantly though, because even though it's Common Knowledge back home by now, it's still tough to recount.]

Um...like a carriage that doesn't need any horses and can go super fast? I thought nearly every human had one on the surface. We don't have any Underground since it's too small, but they look pretty cool! [Though she's not as big a fanboy as Papyrus is, since who needs cars when you can pilot giant robots instead.] What do you do if you don't drive then?

[And Gilbert just gets a blank stare for his explanation.] What's the abyss? Did he fall down a hole in the mountain? [is Oz the human they found underground let's hope so because all the others that fell down there are super fucking dead]

[ Break is more or less imagining a train at this point (maybe??? do they have trains??? fuck this series at least cappy understands now and can't judge me), but even though he's trying to parse through what Undyne thinks a valet is supposed to do, she at least asks a question that he can answer. He sighs, then holds up a finger as if that helps illustrate his point. ]

Like I said, I look after the young lady, for the most part. I watch over the rest of the household as well and protect their interests, but...

[ He sighs. Considering Undyne, he has a guess for how this might make a bit more sense. ]

...It's an old-fashioned term, so don't take this too seriously~. But would you understand a bit better if I were to say that I was a bit closer to a knight~?

[ Break doesn't like using that word, in truth. It's a bit tainted for him, but for the sake of explaining, he can at least use it this once. His work for the two households wasn't that dissimilar, after all, but the designation of a "knight" had become somewhat rare since. ]

[LORD, when Break pulls out the word "knight"... Gilbert looks a little surprised but he remains mostly silent, since that's not his conversation to get into at all. He'll try his best to explain the Abyss at least, but haha, pandora hearts.]

No - it's another dimension that's connected to ours, where time flows differently. Normally they're detached, but sometimes things can cross from one side to the other.

[I DON'T PLAY FROM IT YET I CAN STILL JUDGE but okay knight makes a little more sense. Though now she's imagining Break in armor and...still does not compute??? His frail old man bones would probably shatter under the strain.]

So...you're basically a guard then? [That seems to fit a little better than knight anyway.] That's pretty cool! I always thought you were just some kind of human noble who bosses Gilbert around all day.

[ He can tell that Gilbert is looking his way, or maybe he simply expects it knowing that Gilbert knows just what the usage of that word means. Break closes his eye, and he smiles gently, but that softer smile is definitely covering up a bit more feeling than Break wants to feel. Being praised for it is what he expected, but he doesn't quite want it. It's also why his words are light and dismissive. ]

Time travel exists in a sense. No one can actually control what time they step out into when they leave the Abyss, though. It could be a day, ten years, one hundred...
